PsychHack: A tech event that connects innovation and mental health.
Things have been a bit busy back here as we gear up for PsychHack, GDSC-RAIT’S first ever 36-hour hackathon, and the amount of thought put into everything is baffling. When asked about this the lead organizer, Aditya Iyer says,
“One of the prime objectives we had set up at the beginning of this year was to foster mental health care. What better way to encourage that than this?”. Such strong outlooks lead the way in organizing this hackathon. He further justifies choosing mental health as the prime theme by saying, “We wanted to go in this direction because it’s often overlooked. People know it’s important but they’ll be like ‘Ohhh..’ and carry on with their lives”.
The co-lead organizer, Kshitija Bharambe expressed why the event had to be a hackathon and put things into perspective,
“It’s like killing two birds in one stone. As we start a conversation around this topic, we are also nudging people towards innovation”.
Here are a few things participants should know:
What should the participants look forward to?
“Though we want everyone to think of something and execute it to make a product, that’s not all. Participants can also focus on learning through the sessions we’ll be conducting and network with lots of new people.”
What does the process look like after the hackathon ends?
“When you complete your project, you’ll be asked to submit it with a walkthrough video, and the judges will go through these submissions. They’ll then choose the ones they like to delve deeper into the design, code, etc.”
And about the projects that don’t get selected for further stages-
“We would want them to keep working on it[the product] because that’s what this is about. The participants will get to take a hoard of new and more refined skills with them. And it doesn’t have to end with the hackathon.”
Why participate in PsychHack?
Participants will learn how to improve their abilities and, as a result, connect with more like-minded people to share their ideas and collaborate to find practical solutions, encouraging a strong team-building attitude.
In today’s dynamic world, tech-enabled mental health solutions are essential. PsychHack provides a space for those solutions to be brought to life.
Beginner hackers and developers have an exquisite opportunity to develop their coding skills while also getting a taste of the exciting atmosphere that a hackathon provides.
PsychHack challenges participants to come up with the best solution in a short amount of time to a pressing problem of mental health. Put yourself to the test and see where you can improve.
Now that we’ve gone over the most significant aspects of PsychHack, you should have a clear sense of what this hackathon entails. We cordially invite you to sign up and put your skills to the test in this engaging 36-hour event.
